Who Am I ?

Hey there! I’m Dev Jain, a senior at Jayshree Periwal International School, passionate about pursuing a bachelor’s in business administration. I’m particularly drawn to operations management and supply chains, where I aim to develop innovative solutions that create sustainable impact and turn ideas into action.

Outside the classroom, I’m an avid football enthusiast with a competitive spirit. Sports have taught me the value of teamwork, discipline, and leadership, qualities that shape who I am today.

I admire things whether it’s sharing evening chai with my family; listening to The Weeknd, PinkFloyd, or The Local Train; and enjoying early morning walks with friends, bringing a smile to my face.

As I look ahead, I’m eager to combine my passion for business with this sense of balance, bringing purpose and fulfillment to everything I take on.

Planting/ Gardening

Gardening, which began as a passion during my early morning walks in the National Park, has become a lifelong commitment to nature and sustainability. Watching trees grow from seedlings to towering heights has instilled in me a deep appreciation for the environment. This passion led me to join GreenCity Bhavnagar, where I became the youngest core member actively involved in large-scale plantation projects.

My peaceful morning walks at 6 AM in the tree parks made me connected deeply with nature. This love for the outdoors evolved into a personal mission to grow and nurture trees. Over time, I’ve individually planted over 400 trees, each one symbolizing my dedication to the environment. My continuous involvement with GreenCity Bhavnagar further solidified my role as an advocate for environmental sustainability, and I’ve had the honor of being recognized by the Chief Minister for my efforts. Additionally, my work has been featured in more than five publications, highlighting the importance of plantations in urban areas. Gardening has not only brought me personal peace but has also allowed me to make a tangible impact on my community and the environment.

Football

Soccer has been my passion since a young age, offering me a sense of escape and joy in life’s simplest moments. From kicking soda cans to juggling stones in the backyard, the game has always been my refuge. This love deepened in grade 5 when my parents gave me my first football, setting me on a path of relentless practice and personal growth.

From playing with seniors on my school team to competing in local tournaments, soccer became my constant companion. Over the years, it has been my way to clear my mind and lift my spirits, whether during early morning cross-state practices or late-night games with friends. My dedication led me to significant milestones—winning three district championships, playing for the national team, and representing India in the ISF Tournament in China. Soccer has taught me resilience, teamwork, and the value of persistence, both on and off the field. It’s not just a game for me; it’s a lifelong source of strength and inspiration.

Guitar

Guitar, a self-taught journey, became my creative outlet as I learned to play chords and melodies by ear, often breaking more than 15 strings along the way. Playing for family gatherings and school events, the guitar has been a source of musical discipline and joy.

Beyond the casual performances at home, playing guitar has shaped my ability to be adaptable and focused. Participating in my school orchestra during annual events gave me experience working with other musicians, and improving my timing and coordination. The guitar became more than just an instrument—it became a way to challenge myself and embrace the discipline that music demands, all while nurturing a deeper connection to creativity.

DIY HACKS

DIY Home Projects have always been my way of creatively solving everyday problems. Whether it was fixing a broken remote, creating a tool to turn off my room’s lights using threads and rubber bands, or optimizing my network router with foil for maximum speed, I’ve always found joy in tackling small challenges.

My passion for DIY extends beyond small fixes—I developed a platform to anonymously connect students with school counselors, and even designed a prototype for sustainable aquaculture farming using brine water. These projects allowed me to think critically and innovatively, addressing both simple and complex issues. Whether walking down the street or staring at my ceiling, ideas often pop into my mind, and I jot them down, considering how they could potentially solve larger problems. This habit of always asking “How?” has pushed me to think broadly about global challenges and inspired my academic pursuit to study solutions that can make a lasting impact in the world.

The Jain Family

Growing up in a large Indian family has given me a deep appreciation for close-knit bonds. Our home was always filled with laughter, shared stories, and the warmth of countless relatives. Whether it was celebrating Diwali with vibrant lights or enjoying the feasts of Eid, each festival brought us together in the most joyful ways.

The sounds of clinking plates, the smell of home-cooked food, and the endless teasing from cousins created memories that still make me smile. The traditions we upheld didn’t just connect us to our roots; they brought us closer, creating a lasting sense of love and unity. These shared moments have taught me the importance of support, giving me a sense of belonging and security that extends far beyond blood ties—it’s the kind of warmth that feels like home, no matter where I am.
