Privacy Policy
What subsTrack collects when you track your own recurring subscriptions, why, and how to make it stop.
What we collect
subsTrack is a manual subscription tracker: you tell it what you pay for, and it does the remembering. Everything below is either something you typed in, or something a service we use needs to do its one job.
Account
- Email address — used by our authentication provider, Clerk, to create and verify your account and let you sign back in.
Subscription entries
- Service name (e.g. "Netflix"), cost, currency, billing cycle, next renewal date
- Optional category, payment method label, and free-text notes you add yourself
Optional extras
- Profile photo, if you choose to upload one
- Push notification token, if you enable renewal reminders — used only to address a notification to your device
Purchases
- Your Pro subscription status, handled by RevenueCat on top of Apple's or Google's own purchase records. We never see or store your payment card details.
What we deliberately don't collect
Worth stating plainly, since "subscription tracker" makes some people expect otherwise:
No bank account, card, or statement access. No document uploads, no bank-statement parsing, no linked financial accounts of any kind — every figure in the app is one you typed in yourself.
Who your data goes to, and why
subsTrack is built on a small number of specialist services rather than one do-everything platform. Here's the complete list, and exactly what each one sees:
| Service | Purpose | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Clerk | Auth | Your email address, for account creation and sign-in |
| Neon (Postgres) | Storage | Your subscription entries and account record — our primary database |
| RevenueCat | Billing | Your device's store purchase receipt and Pro entitlement status |
| Cloudinary | Storage | Your profile photo, if you upload one |
| Logo.dev / Google | Lookup | The name of a subscription (e.g. "Spotify"), to find a matching logo image — no identifying data about you |
| OpenRouter | AI Insight | Aggregated category totals (e.g. "Entertainment: ₹800/mo") to generate the Insights tab's written summaries — never subscription names, your email, or any other identifier |
| Frankfurter (ECB) | Exchange Rate | Currency codes only (e.g. "USD", "INR"), to convert totals across currencies |
| Expo | Delivery | A device push token, to deliver renewal reminder notifications |
We don't sell data to anyone, and we don't run advertising of any kind.
How we use it
- To show you your own subscriptions, totals, and renewal calendar
- To generate the spend forecasts and category breakdowns on the Insights tab
- To send a renewal reminder notification, if you've turned that on
- To recognize you as a paying Pro user across sessions and devices
- To keep the service running securely and investigate abuse or errors
Retention & deletion
Your data stays until you remove it. Deleting a single subscription removes that entry immediately. Deleting your account — available inAccount → Delete account — is permanent and, within a short retry window, removes:
- Every subscription you've tracked, from our database
- Your profile photo, from Cloudinary
- Your purchase and entitlement record, from RevenueCat
- Your account and login identity, from Clerk
This is not a soft delete or a 30-day grace period on our end — once you confirm, the deletion job runs until every one of those four systems confirms it's gone.
Security
All traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted (HTTPS/TLS). Passwordless, verified sign-in is handled entirely by Clerk rather than by us storing credentials ourselves. Your data is held on managed infrastructure (Neon for the database, Cloudinary for images) that maintains its own independent security and compliance programs.
Your rights
Access
Everything we hold about you is visible in the app itself — there's no hidden profile.
Correction
Edit or remove any subscription or account detail directly, any time.
Deletion
Delete your account in-app, or email us to request it done on your behalf.
Portability
Email us and we'll send your subscription data as a plain file.
If you're in the EEA, UK, or California, these map to your rights under GDPR and the CCPA respectively — we apply them to everyone, regardless of where you're writing in from.
Children's privacy
subsTrack is not directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 13 (or the minimum age in your country, if higher). If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that meaningfully affects how your data is handled, we'll update the effective date above and, where required, notify you in the app before the change takes effect.
Contact
subsTrack is an independent app. For any privacy question, deletion request, or data export — write todevj5509@gmail.com. We aim to respond within a few business days.
